MAC Gilkey Community Room
Cost: $115, $100 MAC Members

Discover the fundamentals of Columbia Plateau basketry at the MAC! Participants will dive into this intricate art by learning the twinning technique to craft a unique round root bag, commonly known as a "Sally Bag." You'll master both half-turn and full-turn twinning methods to create vibrant banded designs or patterns. By the end of the class you'll have a basket measuring approximately 4 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter. All supplies are provided.

The class is led by Leanne Campbell (Coeur d'Alene/Colville/Nez Perce) who is a skilled specialist most renowned for her unique skills in traditional and cultural arts. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Cultural Administration, has won the Idaho State Historical Society Esto Perpetua Award, and has her art featured in museums, including in the MAC's current exhibition Women, Artist, Catalyst: Art from the Permanent Collection.
