Presenters: Former MAC Curators Laura Thayer and Marsha Rooney
Date: May 16, 2021, 2 pm
Cost: $10 members, $15 non-members
Location: This program is offered live virtually via Zoom. *Once you register through the Zoom link that will be provided to you via email upon your registration, Zoom will inform you how to join the program.
Program Description: This is the final program in a three-part series complementing the current Museum exhibits: "Dressing the Abbey: The Costumes of Downton Abbey," and Campbell House's "Spinning a Yarn."
Curators Laura Thayer and Marsha Rooney will discuss what the MAC Costume Collection is and how has it grown. What
documentation do curators look for, and how do they go
about filling collection “gaps? We will consider case studies that illustrate
efforts to diversify the collection, to collect mid-20th
century mother-and-daughter fashions, to document early
21st century women leaders, and to provide biography that
brings all these women’s stories alive.
