May Film: Samurai Rebellion (1967)
A loyal samurai's peaceful life is disrupted when his son is forced to marry the discarded mistress of the clan's lord. Though initially reluctant, the family comes to car for her, but their happiness is shattered when the lord later demands her return. The samurai defies the order, risking everything to protect his family and challenge the oppressive feudal system.
Directed by Masaki Kobayashi. Run time: 2 hrs 8 mins. Content warning: samurai violence. Not rated.
