October's Lecture - A Woman's Place: Artists Confront Domesticity
For generations, Americans embraced the notion that "a woman's place is in the home," but in the 1970s, artists pushed against this old adage. This lecture explores their use of performance, video, and even an actual house to question common assumptions about women's roles in society.
